true, it is about crime. but it is more about leadership, management, raising to the occasion. my favorite moment is when michael sitting in a chair, explains cooly how he will kill the inspector and braznio. until that minute, michael is an ordinary guy, little brother who takes orders from everybody. i haven't seen a more engrossing minute than that. simply awesome.

& yes Satya, that ones truly a landmark moment in the movie.
As is the one where Don Corleone calls on his friend who owns a Funeral Parlour & asks for a favour to decorate the accompanying (shrouded) mortal remains. Thinking that it might be the body of one of his bumped off business opponents, the Undertaker is shocked when the Don uncovers the smashed face of the body & informs it to be of his elder son Sunny.
Or that scene where the Film Producer turns down the Don's godson simply 'coz of perosnal vendetta. Not even a personal visit by another godson Tom with the godfather's "Offer" (hidden threat) can budge him. Dead in the night, the Producer's awakened by some unantural feeling n sees a bumprising from under his mattress. When he removes the cover, he's horrified to find his pet horse's head lying in a pool of caked blood there.
