I appreciate you putting up topics on people who have topped exams, but feel like it should be oriented towards what they actually did after topping. If this guy after becoming IAS is able to raise above corruption do good work its worth an article. Stop highlighting first second third, talk about people who really have made an effort to change or can influence a change.

Even after going thru IIT'S AND IIM'S and earning crores of rupees as salary, the youth today is highly unsatisfied. Recession, lack of job security (in pvt jobs), may be among reasons to join IAS but still do you think such people can help in administration of country ??

I don't agree that the income is less for IAS/IPS. Most of these people are Multi crorepati. Take the salary of any IAS/IPS or any politician in their career and see their wealth.

He was son of a carpenter who lived near perungudi in Erode district. His dad was a drunkard who behaved ina very monstrous manner. His mom was a house help with very poor domestic management skills. The scruffy boy attended an ordinary govt school and came out of 10th class with good score. He attended pre-univ in govt college and finished with distinction. He enrolled into ordinary, very ordinary ponnaya engg college for informationscience and engineering and finished with 69%. His first job offer was with IBM in hyderabad. He did some excellent work and IBM placed him on another project , for medellin metro railway in venezuela. Rajan soon quit his job in IBM AFTER finishing aproject for air france in paris and joined KPMG iN PARIS. nOW HE IS A SENOIR CONSULTANT WITH THEM. wHAT A JOURNEY FOR A POOR CHAP. I had always liked his attitude. he did not let his background bog him down. He did not care for people who yelled that since your parents aand others around you are scruffy and uneducated you must necessarily end up in menial livelihood sake professions. He is truly an example.

It is not just failing to produce Scientists but this person has wasted IIT Seat & even IIM Seat. We have to accept that he certainly IAS class, he could have done it with simple Economics or so & could have given IIT/IIM Seat to someone else who really want to go into that stream. Sorry to say but my opinion is that even his fiancee who is pursuing Medicine will never be able to justice as a Doctor with his transferable job. Indian Govt should now amend the rules for IAS/IPS etc. & disqualify IITs,IIMs,Doctors etc. Well this is my personal opinion, let the people themselves think about it. We also find it very difficult for female IAS to get alliances/husbands OR they have to scrifice their family life (their choice, of course) Though Govt of India says that "if the couples are in Govt service, they should be posted in the same place" But in IAS/IPS, they are not even posted in the same state. Why cant they transfer them to same place? Is it something like awarding Bharat Ratna to hard core criminal? OR why do they frame rules (meant only for fools) which can not be implemented?

what makes u think an IIT/ IIM wouldn't be of value to IAS. In fact the chance to make a difference is more considering the scope of responsibility and power bestowed on IAS, espcially those running coporations .

I never say there is no chance but do they do it is the main question? Hardly. If they could, why India would be like this (ruled by any Khadi kurta & Gandhi topi but never by any IAS) ruined in all directions except development in poverty & population while their top priority is,was & would be corruption. Can anyone differ with me? Is there one IAS,IPS Officer (except Khemka who put his foot down in Vadra's case) who can tell any Minister that what he/they are doing is against rules/law? None because they are more bothered about their postings etc., than anything else. Even I would do the same thing, if I have no choice but also make millions in the bargain. Thats what all the Govt Officials are doing.

The simple reason: Corruption, Feudalistic mindset, Self-centered society. If we get rid of that, the system shall run cleanly. Alas, a middle class struggles with this all life and so he wishes to get into IAS/IPS/IRS

the reason may be the perks associated with govt. job like IAS are nowhere else so our highly unsatisfied youth is going for it even after earning crores of rupees
