who cares for the game played by around 200 countries on earth. with teams like C�te d'Ivoire qualify for this world event and do we even qualify for olympics football?

you answered yourself. 200-32=168 country did not make to final, including india.

but fyi, last count there were only around 110 countries in the world.

Seems you counted long long ago. Or maybe you counted only the countries where football is played. Google search provides no definite answer, but the number of countries in the world is around 200 all right.

As per FIFA site, exact number of countries paricipated in this wold cup is 204.
