Covering Jewellery
by K G on Jul 10, 2014 01:29 PM  | Hide replies

It is called Covering not because it would cover up for gold, but because it is gold covering over cheap metal i.e. gold painting or plating over iron/steel or copper jewel.

Also in south atleast in TamilNadu, earlier we used to have one more such word - Snow. It means body lotion. The word snow was widely used during those days when we used to get only Emami and Ponds "snows", that too from 'expensive' super market stores.

There is also tomato omlette. That's the reason. Foreigners won't know that (so they will use omlette as generic), as it's an Indian dish.
