Good for them. But why all this hallabaloo? Recent Baramati marathon was won by a 61 yr old lady, clad in a nine yard saree, running barefoot and running competetive first time and that too without any preparation. This old lady did not get half of this page on rediff.

Ratnakarji, for once rediff is covering news which is not about celebrities and scandals, so thats good. I am beyond fifty and have stopped running about 10 yrs back coz I lack the resolution and am afraid i will hurt my knees. This news is making me rethink. As for the lady in Baramati, hats off to her too. Would have praised her too if the news had received coverage. Hullabaloo hona chahiye. Far too many of us not exercising enough. rgds.

Ratnakarji ! Blame Baramati marathon organizers and the vernacular press for not hailing her feat. If she runs the same way in Mumbai; definitely she will receive recognition !

Dear Ratnakar, I did follow that event. Lata Bhagwan Khare won the senior citizen's event which was a distance of 5 km. A full marathon distance is 42 km, but in India we tend to call everything as a marathon, like 5K marathon, 10K marathon. Full credit to the lady for winning, but let us put the correct information out there. Yes, she did win by running in a sari, but it was not a full marathon. It was a 5K distance.
