School admissions 10 questions every parent must ask
by santanu dey on Dec 20, 2014 11:52 AM

It is easy for the author to write such eutopic essays because he or she is a CEO of an experiential learning company. I have never heard of CREYA. I don't know who all has. To crack ideas is easy but to actually implement them is the real challenge. The CEO has forgot that we are staying in a country called India, where every citizen is vulnerable to two major facilities of life. One is education and the other is mediacal treatment. We cannot imagine ourselves trying to scrutinize the resume of a doctor or for that matter a teacher or a principal of an educational institute. It is true that both these professions decide the fate of the benefactor either preferably or adversely but even then we dont possess the right to verify the authenticity of the practitioners of these two professions. I conclude by saying that we are living in a society where food itself is dear so why talk of extravagance?

If any parent dare ask such questions he will be shown the door. A few more questions need to included. Tie is a part of uniform and compulsory but do they teach how to knot a tie at least from 6th class onwards? Why extra coaching classes are compulsory even after school hours? How they will reduce the home work? Will they lessen the burden of so many books? How are the class rooms? How are the toilets? Are the teachers well qualified? Not even 1% of schools will entertain such questions. No wonder 85% of the graduates lack communication skills even after studying for so long in English medimum and also do not know a simple thing like how to know a tie.

My filter criteria
by Informed on Dec 18, 2014 03:19 PM

This is how I filtered. First filter is to ignore all govt schools and pick only CBSE or ICSE schools. Then after eliminating all missionary schools, I ended up with 4 schools. Two of them were asking 1 lakh for 1st standard, so eliminated as I can't afford. Out of remaining 2, 1 was CBSE and 1 was ICSE, I decided on ICSE

basically no admission

First goal is to get admission in 'any' school. If you get in more than one school, pick the cheaper one, there is usually hardly any difference. If there is a difference, it will be mainly in smart classrooms that use tablet and projectors. Choose this if you are a millionaire businessman or in a profession that gives lot of under-the-table income.
