As soon as you sit in the taxi, take out your mobile and say "Bhaiyaji ishmile".
Mo offence and he will get happily ready for a click.
Make this a standard practice and it will not look as awkward.

Always sit directly behind the driver.

Always sit directly behind the driver. There are several advantages for the same.
Usually the driver uses the side mirror to see vehicles from behind and the rear view mirror is for seeing central read/left rear side of the vehicle. So most probably the driver won't be able to see you.
Sitting directly behind the driver gives more advantage, eg, if you sense any danger all you've got to do is to grab the neck/eyes of the driver and entire vehicle will go out of control in no time. Even if you are sitting in the middle seat of an SUV and someone grabs you from behind, then remember to use your hands and poke the attackers eyes/neck, he would have no option but to release you, then immediately plunge to attack the driver.
Also if you sit directly behind the driver, you have better chances of getting attention from other drivers. Even if you open the driver side door, it has more chance of getting hit by ongoing vehicles there by getting attention.

Few more points for girls
by Bhasmasur Rakshasa on Dec 10, 2014 10:37 PM  | Hide replies

1) Carry a sharp kitchen knife and be prepared to smash his guts with it if the situation warrants........
2) Carry Mace, not pepper spray...pepper spray will only blind him, mace will cause him to gasp for breath, he will cough violently...at that instant, take that kitchen knife and slice his entrails with it....

3) Once he is left bleeding, pull him out and drag him onto the road...then start that same car and run him mover until his last breath leaves him...

4) Then report the matter to the police and say you killed him in self defence....

Once women start doing that, such incidents will automatically stop...

Power to women!!!!!

Very nice points

This is one of the most sensible articles I have read on this topic. Excellent and practical tips.

Most other articles are full of feminist nonsense saying why should I call my home, why should I note down the taxi number, etc.

What is really needed is sensible, practical precautions like this article mentions.
