I am rather inspired by likes of Stephen Hawkings who fight against all the odds to make it big.
This lady is just a case of knowledge going to wrong minds. Result is for all to see.
Maybe thats why in olden days the teachers used to choose their disciples as they were very very protective of the usage of knowledge they impart for betterment of society.

Ravi, did you know that when you take an active holiday with our company, most of what you pay for goes to local people helping grow economies. No other holiday style can claim to make a difference to the lives of the grassroots like active holidaying does. What we do at www.ActiveHolidayCompany.com doesn't make us some heroes but we try to make small changes in the lives of local people usually even ignored by their own governments and for that I am proud of what we do through our business!!!!!

Sorry to disappoint - husband works as well - full time that too! It's shameful that Indian men think like this.. and that's why we need to have forums that help women.. while what we would actually love is to have a society where we are equals..

Did you mean Excess Baggage.. well yes - thats a running watch that times your pace - pretty popular with runners. Don't worry about the shades - they were just Rs.800.. and the iPod a present!! :)

Well it is from a website that reports entrepreneurial stories. Not sure what else they should be reporting..
i am usually inspired by persons who follow their passion - especially when it is adventure but for some reason this story did not. it just appeared like some reasonably successful but bored professional lucky enough to indulge in whatever takes her fancy.

Exactly. In terms of intent, how is this different from someone who takes drug and thinks life is an endless party.

no comparison - not illegal, healthier etc. my comment was not to belittle her achievements - it is obviously out of the ordinary to feature here. i also do not think that her mba is a waste as she is obviously putting it to use in her entrepreneurial venture. it is just that there are many 'ordinary' folks with much lesser means and facing greater odds who are more inspirational..

my point is that when you put your own interests above anything else (sometimes you cannot afford to do it, sometimes you can), you will invariably loose your moorings and drift.

I agree Subramanian - my hero is the common man... they have it a lot harder and I too am inspired by them. Still, I am glad to say that in whatever small way we can, I am glad to say that my venture supports a section of these people by bringing them sustainable employment through the adventure trips we promote..

drugs? endless party? wow.. does this article sound like thats what I do? I wish.. but then when one loves what they do - it comes pretty close to that :)
The article says she started her first job at age 20 and then also mentions her as an IIMB alumnus. Can somebody tell me in what way can anyone get an IIM PG degree at age 20?

Here's the true story Amit! I passed out of Sydenham college in 1992 when I was 20 and started working. Enrolled for MBA at NMIMS but dropped out in the last semester. I went back to IIMB last year to to study Entrepreneurship Management at the age of 41.. Whoever said I got IIM PG is wrong - I have never said that though I am an IIMB alumna:)
What is her real name - Gauri or Geeta? You have said Geeta in the caption and then Gauri throughout the article. Whatever, it is really nice to know that such adventure loving ladies are around.
I hate people who don't do justice to the knowledge they gain, simple.
Firstly this lady is in the news only because she is from IIM, which is rather more disgusting since there are so many aspiring candidates who wanted to be in her place for MBA.

With MBA, she worked with Mauritius Airlines, World Coach Touring Co. and then became an entrepreneur. Where is the waste of MBA? You mean for all these no qualification is required???

Nothing in life is a waste dear Ravi! Not education and no experience.. Not everyone goes to college to get a fat salary :)
