Hats off continuing to make the most of life

Awesome achivements. Genetics definitely has a role to play with such illustrious family members all super achievers. Most important quality is the fearlessness and lack of insecurity which kills all creativity. Indian minds continue to dazzle.

No big deal

"Piyush and Prasoon (the Pandey brothers are his maternal uncles)"

2 things:

1. Abhijit had not 1, but 2 uncles giving him a ride. And these uncles are big names.

2. These uncles themselves came up at a time when the competition wasn't as fierce as it is today.

Not to take anything away from Abhijit; I'm sure he's a bright person. But to suggest that his achievements are great is inaccurate and fallacious. There are a lot of talented youngsters in the ad industry and other industries who have no uncles to loft them.

Gladwell said it best in Outliers, "Who we are cannot be separated from where we're from."

Where is that "amazing success story" here? I am still looking for it!
I liked that last portion on the impatience of youth though..!

Wanted to join IAF but had to pick Engg. Did business. Traded sarees. No background in creative writing but overcame all the challenges to become the creative head of a big agency like O&M and created a lot of memorable ad campaigns. Despite looking, this is what you missed.

And you didnt look further to notice the fact that he became 'creative head' of his family's company. And thats not an 'amazing success story' for me.

Life...

So, the adman takes PR route now that he is starting his new company.

The amazing great India, where a non journalistic, communication, marketing job less fellow gets into advertising due to his maternal uncles, gets the juiciest of campaigns and moved up in life.

Few points to ponder:
by Swamy Dr on Dec 02, 2014 12:06 PM

It is nice to read the interview of Awasthiji.... nothing comes to us just like that, things may look too simple, there is lot of sweat before it looks. Good points to meditate regading the todays youth, now a day no body wants to join Gharanas and do Abyas for decades before giving a concert, now they want to practice for few weeks then appear in some reality show and get fame.....

People should understand that best part of the life is in journey not in desteny, journey itself should be fasinating if you get tropy in the end it is only a cream of the cake, not the cake itself

Modi Era

Constructive Criticism in Modi era?? You must be dreaming. By the way that Java rocks.
You grew up in a different India these days they will not let you celebrate Christmas as your favourite festival even in the Airforce. These days everyone has to say Jai Mata Di not Jai Hind or get harassed in all ways by the superiors in the Army.
