In India, obviously people will prefer arranged marriages. Because men do not want to miss on the lucrative financial prospects of arrange marriages. And then there are Women who are never independent in real sense and want a fallback support system if the marriage doesn't work out. It is silly that 50% people don't want to run their own lives and be responsible for their own decisions.
Very true.Love marriage requires lot of effort in wooing and courtship. Arranged marriage is easy.This is another example of the laziness of Indians which keeps more than half of Indians poverty stricken.

And the solution to this is to get tied up with anyone whom your parents have chosen for you, just like a sheep.

It's not like that. Things have changed a lot in arranged marriage. Many boys and girls are being given the liberty to choose their life partner
marriage is supposed to be the life long decision and most of us do not feel matured enough to click the decision despite every thing might be going as per wish/desire...
