Only Govt School Pass Outs for UPSC
by pratap bhanu on Aug 05, 2014 06:48 PM

Like ITR-V prints out to be sent to CPC office bangalore only through ordinary/speed post of India Post.
UPSC should also allow only Govt School Pass Outs because for Private School students private companies(corporates) are there...

Why CSAT should stay?
by Balwinder Kang on Aug 05, 2014 12:11 PM

Because the government or rather the party in power cannot take this retrograde decision with an eye on the forthcoming state-elections in the Hindi-belt, without UPSC concurrence [which it had withheld] or without amendment of Art 320(3)(a), which specifically mandates that Union Public Service Commission or the State Public Service Commission, as the case may be, shall be consulted “on all matters relating to methods of recruitment to civil services and for civil posts”.
U.P.S.C. is amongst the few institutions which enjoy both autonomy and freedom along with the country’s higher judiciary and the Election Commission with its charter being granted by the Constitution of India. Articles 315 to 323 of Part XIV of the constitution, titled “Services under the Union and the States” and it reports to the President who places its report before the parliament.
Will the government of the day throw the Constitution out of window for sake of political expediency?

On TV saw some students arguing that Aptitude Test has no relevance for Civil Services, instead they should be tested for Empathy.

How do you test such a thing? It's Bizarre.
Both English and Aptitude Tests at Prelims level are better than simply rote learning subjects like History, or Chemistry or any other.
