Archie is going to die only in the Only in the Life of Archies series. The regular Archies comics will continue to be rolled out, so all you guys and gals who have grown up reading Archies & his gang do not get worried the Archies comic books aint gonna end

Internet is the cause of Archie's death and so other comics....
by Banibrata Saha on Apr 12, 2014 10:43 AM  | Hide replies

Its been a fascinationg journey of Archie comics. I have grown reading them, waiting for new publication. Also the same for Bahadur and Bela, Mandrake, Richie Rich and so on....
i think the internet has killed them... easy availablity, no waiting period, digitization.... all these made the excitement of these comics go down.
Newer generation is totally different - we can't blame them, its their way of seeing the world - (Change is always imminent and constant...)

These comic characters would now become a part of history and people like us would remember till our times get over.........

The only thing good and manhood engorging about this drivel from America was the presence of comely characters like Betty and Veronica, especially when they were shown in swimming costumes!

Never understood the fascination previous generations or losers as my generation likes to call them, had for these comics?!

You will probably NEVER understand the previous generation UNLESS you really went through it. Can you IMAGINE that there was once ONLY horse(or animal )drawn vehicles and the swanky motor cars DID NOT even EXIST in Science fiction novels ???

Internet may have caused the DEATH of Archie !
by Edison John on Apr 09, 2014 09:49 PM  | Hide replies

People of the present generation would WONDER as to how I can speak up in favour of Comics like " Archie " " Phantom " " Mandrake " " Richie rich " " Mickey mouse " Donald Duck " " Road runner etc ,. etc., Ever HEARD these names ?? We grew up in a generation without Computers and Internet. The Library books and comics were the only means of reading. The present generation is NOT BORN with a silver spoon in their mouths but with a mouse ,keyboard , and USB modems in their mouths. So it will be difficult for the present generation to " FEEL " the nostalgia , when Archie leaves this fantasy world. " Comics " were NEVER spoiling kids as some people tend to think. " Phantom " comics taught you values in life , the best being the Oath taking of Phantom to FIGHT EVIL all over the world. Similar is the case of Mandrake who also uses his " magic " powers to overcome nasty enemies. This really ( probably ) helped in moulding a child's character. So all comics were not bad , while all comics were NOT good too. The fact that there is only 1 message on the board after keeping the article open for so long indicates the COLD RESPONSE ,the present generation has towards comics and their heroes.

In our chilhood, we used to eagerly await new publication of Indrajal comics of TOI publication. So fascinating were those comics that they broke all language barriers.
Even in later stage, it helped my much younger cousin to master Hindi & English languages - just due to urge of reading these comics - as I introduced them to him for the cause.

If Charlie Harper can die........Archie's death would not startle
by Rajesh Chheda on Apr 09, 2014 06:22 PM  | Hide replies

The height of fame achieved by Charlie Harper and his killing due to differences with the producer sent shockwaves amongst fans most of whom quit watching the show after valiant attempt by Ashton Kutcher.
Archie's death by comparison is a lame affair. Though Archie's is equally loved by fans, shock of his death will not result in dramatic changes.
