an institution which helped us grown into a 1.2 billion nation is suddenly seen with ridicule from the lens of western morality... for pete's sake we dont eat beef...so lets not copy somebodys sense of reasoning and apply it to our dal roti brains.

the younger generation is already paying a good price for this eeediotic westernized concept of relationships... money should never be a factor in marriage... marriage is commitment ...good or bad you should hold the fort with dignity...and doing unecessary investigation beforehand will only complicate things further

if some girl came and started interrogating me on my assets and liabilities before marriage i would consider her as an LIC agent

Mr, PV Subramanyam,s observations in the article are true to some extent. It may not be situation everywhere. We have more middle-class and middle-income families in India irrespective of caste, religion, region etc. The situation is same everywhere. Less Income - More Expenses. Sometimes for false prestige (social status)people do take loans and show off that they are really financially good. There are certain households with large families and responsibilities, where one has to take burden of the entire family. If either spouse are working, it is natural to depend on other to maintain the family. One point is sure - the girls should not assume and presume a picture of all successes and demand fulfilling after marriage. One should be within limits and think twice before spending especially wasteful expenses. MVSB Subrahmanyam, Raipur (C.G.)
