The reservation policy is a total failure and it has not helped the needy and poor. instead those are affluent among the reserved category are exploiting them. the govt. should rethink about its implementation of the policy in future to the needy only. the present case is a standing example. there are millions like this.

You are one in a million, and that is contrast to parasites like the YSR reddy family who has looted crores and has yet to do a good deed in his pathetic life.

ok, go to the film section of this site, you will find plenty of things worthy to read.

Everyone knows here, someone is plain jealous. This is worth a read for many and many times better than 99% of what rediff has.

@ Chrish Martin This is the problem with people in general. Anything that is critical is termed as jealous, envy etc.You probably don't know what happens in rural areas in South India. And read my comment carefully .. The guy has done a good job now doubt, but there are many people who donate 10/100 times more to their villages in the South. So the news in itself is not good enough to be covered in Rediff.

The guy is still a student and is yet to graduate. Besides, he wants to donate the entire prize money towards a noble cause. He hasn't even started his career so where does the question of 10/100 times more money arise?

Yes indeed it is very surprising to see how Foolish some of us are - The MONEY was actually given by GODREJ - Therefore, all the GOOD work has been done by GODREJ - and here we are giving CREDIT to some one else!
After all this PROVES why INDIA will NEVER Develop - We always PRAISE the wrong people - We INDIANS forgot the people who gave us INDEPENDENCE - EVEN the GANDHI whom we rightly or wrongly claim to have helped give us INDEPENDENCE - We instead keep ELECTING a family with that STOLEN surname - generation after Generation - after all this is what we call INDIAN DEMOCRACY! and do we care for the family with the ORIGINAL surname?

seriously ..I was getting headache reading all those appreciations. While what he does is noteworthy, publishing it in a national news website and giving him a legendary status sounds silly. As you rightly said, if at all there is one who deserves attention more than anyone else, it has got to be the brainchild behind OGDREJ's concept.

True it is the brainchild of Godrej and it's their money but don't you realise that had Gopi thought of promoting himself, he could have since the money was in his hands. But on the contrary he decide to promote someone was less privelged than him

Very noble thinking indeed. It is because of people like you that we all can be optimistic. Remember, your action doesn't end there. Stories like yours do inspire many others to act selflessly.

by Anand sodo on Sep 27, 2013 12:29 AM  | Hide replies

Even I will not mind, if Rediff gives me any Amount say - a few CRORES - I will DONATE it all to the NEEDY - BUT - Does that make me a HERO? - The answer is very clear- NO! The Money I am supposedly Gifting is not mine in any case! Similarly this guy HAS been GIVEN that Amount for a specefic purpose and if he does not - then he will be a TRAITOR. If he does give - He is just fulfilling a function he has been given.

He has got that money SPECIFICALLY for that PURPOSE and if you are unable even to understand that its not my fault. The Prize he has supposedly earned is NOT for HIMSELF - It has been given for the DREAM that he had expressed. and now it is his DUTY to PAY what he has RECEIVED to the rightfull OWNER.

IDIOTS are simply unable even to understand basic and simple sentences - He(himself working with Infosys) BEGGED for that money - Godrej GAVE him that MONEY - Now if he does not give tha money to the needfull - He will only PROVE what a big TRAITOR he is.

i do not think you have the guts to do such a noble thing. First transform your mind, then only you can think of such noble cause.
