Keep your record upto date. Dont default on any payments. Read their term comnditions and understand it very well. Keep your card number and their helpline number by heart in case you require them in case of loss of card or other emergency. Whenever you speak to their helpline note down the time and name (not only name but surname of the person you spoke). Never be shy to keep every thing in writing giving all the facts. iIn case of grievances approach Banking Ombudsmen who generally give decision in banks favour. You may file an appeal with the appellate authority or consumer court. All the banks take advantage of peoples carelessness and makes money . One can can avoid this with awareness.
The most important factor to consider when choosing a credit card is the kind of protection it offers when the card is stolen or lost and what is your liability in such an event!
Indian credit cards are a nightmare if they are stolen or lost!
You are held liable for all fraudulent charges on your card till the matter is settled.
In a majority of cases, the ruling goes against the card holder because the card was used with the holder's password and pin!
Indian credit card companies are run by and employ vultures who are just waiting to feast on the carcass of their hapless customers!
