IITs are overhyped; you have the facilities for research but they attract the best talent for undergraduate courses.
The universities are mainly for research and PG studies; for UG there are colleges. There is no harm in having UG courses but if you loose focus that might not be good.

I am not sure how you obtained this info. The research facilities are simply not upto the mark for UG, leave alone PG.
IITs were not overhyped, they used to produce good quality UG students. At PG level, they were atleast 2nd best in India (after IISc). But of late, they are falling in both these aspects...

So you have never heard of this ranking -which has been highly regarded throughout the world! Boy,in which world you are living??
Good show. Universities represent talent from interior of India unlike IITs which are more of metro based. This is a signature of development from interior India. Hope all universities would follow soon.
