There are fewer well paying jobs in US after graduation, and green card takes forever. But whereas in India you can get a decent salary these days in IT companies or Management degrees. So, there is no point in going to US.
It is very simple. It takes several decades to get greencard in the worker category and without it one is a slave and the slave owner makes money out of the slaves labor. Earlier greencard used to come in about 2 years and one was ready to work as slave for two years. If the US govt gives greencard in one year then every student of India who does not have good amount of assets here would want to work in the US and live there. Just like India in the USA too education and qualifications are valuable only if the degree is from a reputed university. There are only 400 universities in India for a population of 1.2 billion and in the US it is 4000 universities for one fourth of indias population, so anyone and everyone who is able to pay the fee can get a degree in any stream of his choice, so except the top 50 universities rest of the degrees are not counted for employment. USA is still the best place in the world for worker category provided one has US citizenship or greencard.
The main reason for dropping of Indian students at USA is devaluation of Indian rupee against US 4, which resulted adverse effect on the Indian students to go to US for higher studies, hence, it is suggested that Indian government should come forward for the sake of such students interest which will give effect to the Indian economy also.

I have taught a large number of Chinese students that came to UK. None of them cheated; they worked very hard.

I am reproducing, verbatim:A recent New York Times analysis of this phenomenon makes it clear that nearly all of these students cheat to gain admission. As evidence, the Times quotes a report concluding that "90 percent of Chinese applicants submit false recommendations, 70 percent have other people write their personal essays, 50 percent have forged high school transcripts and 10 percent list academic awards and other achievements they did not receive." The report predicts this will only get worse going forward. The Times calls this a "conundrum."
The above from Huff Post college magazine, November 2013. Judge for yourself.

Rao, why are you so obsessed with China, clean your own stables before commenting on others.If the Chinese cheat, how do they pass in the US exams, and get their degrees, or do you mean to say that they bribe the Americans and pass.
Who needs analysis for such things ...its kids job to find reason for such things; Indians deal in Rupees and its hasnt got any value outside india; India doesnt deal in QUALITY for anything and so is education; English in India is practiced indigenous ways not standardized practices for all to compete globally; Regionalism is more fancy for decision makers to keep the masses away from getting empowered;
Rajika missed one of the main reason apart from falling Rupee is the ongoing Recession in USA. No jobs in USA, so many Indians have lost jobs & have come back to India in past few years & it is still on.
It is simple. There is no use of US MBA degree in india, it is not counted here or considered any better than indian MBA. About US engineering degrees, they are of no use here in india. Indian engineering graduates themselves are doing only IT coolie job here. Earlier people used to go to USA to study because after the studies they could get job there and also within a year or two greencard. Now with greencard option becoming a remote possibility, it may take 2-3 decades or even more, if they have to do a job in the US they have to work for some visa giving bodyshopper who will eat the lions share of income and give only a pittance to the worker, plus the treatment from both the bodyshopper and the client for a visa holder is bad now and it is becoming worse by the day. USA dream is over for indians now. Even gulf is sending foreigners back. Europe anyways was not good for indians. So why waste money on USA degree?
