Good for India that at least some Indian individuals have the courage to break the bonds of arbitrary restriction on freedom of the individual.

More should follow her lead. India will become a civilized country only when such individuals come to dominate over the other kind.

Private people can setup a "Bikini Statistics of India" forum. Apart from Statistics, it will contain views on personal freedom, reasonableness of restrictions, psychology of freedom and absence thereof, and so on. However it is not mere discussion but practice of freedom that matters.

Individuals must not wait for a signal from elders or government or anyone, but go right ahead and exercise the maximum physically possible personal freedom. The only restriction that might be reasonable is that similar exercise by all should not be physically harmful to others, that too beyond a tolerable limit.

If society can tolerate tobacco, which kills by cancer, then there is absolutely no justification whatsoever for restrictions on personal clothing. Individuals ought to be absolutely free to wear anything they want in private life, even if nothing. Only formal dress at official or public duty should be regulated.

She is slim in a country where most women are mostly horribly ugly in their skin because of obesity. They were wise who started the practice of Indian women keeping covered up in fine clothes. Obesity was a virtue in famine ridden times, but today it is just plain ugliness and bad health.
