Advice about choosing to be an engineering student is simple.

If you cannot get admission into a reputed government or private college, don't bother doing engineering at all!

A degree certificate which says you are an engineer doesn't mean anything unless it is from a reputed college!

Doing engineering from one of the countless, characterless engineering colleges that have mushroomed over the years, is a complete waste of time!

Instead of wasting your money and 4 years in one of the countless, characterless engineering colleges, do a diploma in Information technology or even Visual Effects!

I joined a private engineering college ( one of the good ones ) many years back and it helped me secure admission into the top 15 management institutes after that. There were a lot of difficulties that we faced with respect to the curriculum, university and living outside. However at the end of the course, we were less academic and much tougher and worldly wise.
