it is much more easier to survive and progress in us or uk than in india, the reason is the best of best minds compete here in India it is very difficult to survive and suceed here in India compared to US or UK,the brilliant minds are dime a dozen here and authorities dont care and whats more they set up hurdles and difficulties even to survive, thats the reason why the ones with resources prefer to leave India.I know this fully well because i had been in HongKong for a year and it was alike a paradise...the things for which we struggle here in India are just nonexistent there, the quality of life is superb, they care for good minds and vlue them.
all said and done i had predecided and came back to India and reestablished myself as a successful Plastic surgeon. The path is tough but you do what your circumstsance and destiny decides!you have to follow what your heart says though the path is difficult there is no comparison!

Borrowed money for Airfare?

I love love love this. Reminds me of Rajesh Koothrapalli in The Big Bang Theory. Why do Indians have to embellish their stories to show how poor and downtrodden they were in India. Given that both his parents are established medical professionals, I highly doubt that they were living on streets in India.

I have personal experience. IIMs or Ivy League guys go with money as first priority whether it is business or Social business (so called Social enterprise?). Yes it is a must and must for sustainability and also for the decent living and good encouragement of such persons/entrepreneurs. But, in the process enterprises of such persons end up in the hands of unscrupulous and cr-mi-n-al characters (again products of institutions like IIMs) and the Original social entrepreneur will just ignore (not only ignore but encourages such characters - otherwise his so called social enterprise will get closed/shut its shop for want of business) and becomes emotionally bl-ac-kma-il-ed and trapped by such chief operating officers of such social enterprises. So no one should get entrapped by philosophical thoughts of so called top persons who got IIMs or Harvard or Stanford or Princeton admission or earned degrees from there. Here I will give a small example. One such Social enterprise has lo-o-t-e-d Backward Regions Grant fund as a designated TSI (allocated for District Plans preparation through Gram Sabhas - By appointing TSI) with full knowledge of its CEO who is an IIM and the Chief who is much - much more than that.. In the process the life of BRGF which is Gram Sabha, participatory planning and empowerment has been just made jokers.

Well, maybe Psychiatrists did not have that much money in 1972 in India. Also, maybe his father not married when he went USA. Anyway, we should not see what his father did, rather what he is doing.

American way of life is extremely self centered and selfish but they speak great philosophical words in their speech. This is speak something and do exactly the opposite. Somehow make huge amount of money is the only actual goal but the american society expects you to spend that money in show off and publicized charity and if you do not indulge in these two things they will consider you abnormal. You cannot trust any of these ivy school fellows for a penny, they are like our models who speak about changing the whole world when they win the crown but actually end up dancing in movies for money. You speak to any of these ivy league fellows and they will tell you how they plan to change the world for better using their stylish words but they are the ones who will rob you off everything at the first opportunity. If you interact with them on daily basis you will know how self centered and cunning they are.

I pretty much agree with what "ar" said if not 100% at least 95%. I have personal experience.
