Corruption has emerged as something normal. It has become the people's routine which they follow as a custom to give an amount of money as bribe to; 1.The KSEB inspector who comes to the newly built home for providing the electricity connection. 2.The municipality or village official who comes for land inspection in the site. Even if we have been much truthful in all aspects like even paying tax,we provide something in return to the official who already receivess a good sum of money as salary for his service. First of all,we should not train officials in such a way.So we should change our attitude first.
Some day? When? How do we go about erasing it?By saying that it can't be erased in a day? Ever a corrupt nation,we have become an incorrigibly corrupt one. It is the political class that has systemically ruined the country. Unless it reined in the bureaucrats can not be controlled. Let us not be compromising.
Mr.Venkitaraman, you have topped the IAS, please be corrupt free. Do your duty with utmost sincerity and honesty with love to your country. Propagate the same among your colleagues. To an extent we me stem this rot. It is the top buruecrats who follow suit of their Masters - Ministers. So you should strong enough to dispel any thought of corruption. India will win. Jai Hind
In M J Akbar`s words:- India has become a Joke in Maldives, a Foe in Srilanka, A Doubt in Bangladesh, A Shrug in Nepal, A Snigger in Pakistan, A Taunt in China.......

Why has he left out the other countries? Because they are not neighbours? Or because of his having exhausted English expressions?
It is indeed a two way process. We blame, rightly, politicians for corruption. We also pay the government office peon or police constable to get your paper work done quickly by jumping the line? We hope things will change, for the best, sooner than later.
I agree. Corruption that has taken deep roots since independence has become integrated in Indian culture such that "all grease, graft or kickbacks, unaccountable payoffs" can easily be dubbed as"culture tax". Tough laws exist for punishing the guilty but who will enforce them , how and when is anyone's guess and perception! In news were some Bureaucrat couple in MP found to have amassed unaccountable assets and money. Lets meet this IAS Venkatraman in 10 years from now and see what he has to say!

We are not short of laws to handle any situation. We lack the will to enforce them.Let the common man strive so that the corrupt can thrive.
