In several of these questions more than one of the possible answers would be correct. In the sentence about it being more comfortable to go by train, it would be quite reasonable to use any of the three suggested words.

You are wrong. "I traveled to new delhi. The trip was quiet good and the journey was amazing." Do you see the difference now in the usage of these three words.

The reason is not that english is a great language. Its about the fact that, all higher education and almost all good educational institutes provide education with english as medium. So not being able to speak english implies lack of good education. This is the reason that not knowing english is little shameful in India.

I am extremely happy that this thread could not turned out to be communal like south v/s north etc. Some people like Arjun loves to flaunt comunal comment and then take vulgar satisfaction seeing people spitting venom on each other in reply. The great way to answer such morons.

actually, the entire quiz is incorrect. almost all the options provided had interchangeable words and hence, right or wrong is notional.
with regard to the states mentioned, i must say that it reflects more on you than on anything else.

Fishes is used because the film was about different species of fish dancing together. It is like 'peoples' which can be used to represent different group of people together.

by Batao Na on Mar 20, 2013 12:23 PM  | Hide replies

Usual idiom is home appliances and not household appliances. It's household goods or household articles.

By the way home and household are not exactly synonymous Phillips , LG , whirlpool call themselves a home appliances company for a reason.

One reason could be that those reputed companies want to adveretise their appliances having home which has ownership element in built but not so in case of a house which may or may not be home.

Re: Re: Home appliance not household appliances

Well as per Merriam-Webster dictionary the defination of household is : those who dwell under the same roof and compose a family;

Home is a dwelling unit composed of physical goods whereas household denotes human element in it.
Word household is always used in terms of a family where as home is a physical unit.

So all the companies call them home applicances not household appliances.

Ofcourse there is a thin line but I hope this clarifies.
