I suggest that the UPSC exams should be only in English, because: 1. It has the administrative quality 2. It is not very tough to learn in English 3. English is the only linking language for the diversified Indian citizens.
UPSC should not make English the mandatory language for writing the exam. When even the poorest is toiling hard to get into the mainstream of CSE, UPSC should itself be the change. Encourage students to appear in their comfort language in the written exam. During training, they can be coached in English language. Remember, they have not been able to learn English due to several difficulties. Also, when all are competing in different optionals, why same language? And regarding English paper made compulsory instead of mother tongue language, the Eight schedule languages can be followed. When we are having numerous persoanlities from almost every state, there would be no issues for finding examiners.

In this fiasco, the problem is not english. But the rule of 'Mother tongue upto graduation' was made applicable only to NON-HINDI speaking candidates. If someone wanted to write the exam in Hindi, it was possible in the new amendment, irrespective of what their medium of education was. That was unfair
