My view

If the company values innovation more than anything else, work from office is the preferred approach. I say this because innovation happens through face to face interaction, feedback, and discussion among people. However, productivity is better when people work from home. People can save lot of time and also take care of any family responsibilities without sacrificing the quality of work.

my Experience
by Oscar on Mar 04, 2013 03:20 PM  | Hide replies

Its Ok only for people with small family with big homes or bachelors.

Otherwise < I myself a victim, work from home may ruin your career

Mine is 1BHK with five people staying.

My son goes to school at 9.30 and comes back at 12.30 pm. once he is at home its all noise and masti making difficult to focus. also wife and parents think that as I am at home whole so they are always asking some or other help time to time.

Plus my fathers news, wife's ekata kappor serials, mother specific serial and sons cartoons keep TV runing whole day.

My office people think that as I am working from home I am available 24 hrs for conference calls and tele meetings.

All this made my productivity dips down and ultimately ppor performance. Also If I had a problem I cannot reach out any of my colleague as all were in hyderabad and I am alone in mumbai.

Finally I left the job 8-9 months and join a smaller company but office in mumbai

THATS WHY I SAY WORK FROM HOME IS ONLY FOR BACHELORS OR PEOPLE WITH BIG HOME AND SMALL FAMILY

Lose respect
by Oscar on Mar 04, 2013 03:17 PM

Ask womens in India. 90% will say that they would like their husband go office at 9.00 and comes back evening.

Also mens staying at home whole day loose respect of family members as they think that " ye to aaram se ji raha hai. ise kuch kaam nahi"

Working from home is difficult for men.
by samudra blr on Mar 04, 2013 02:59 PM

It is difficult for men to work from home , as their wives are always trying to seduce their husbands if they are left alone at home.

Work from home will increase fertilization among couples and make more women pregnant.

This will increase the population .

But call centers cannot be worked from home due to disturbances and security issues.

Working from home is a convenience rather than achieving a task at hand. Offices are ideal for doing work, as it involves better communication, monitoring , resolving issues etc.

Samudra Blr, there are people who work from home and they do it very well. It is just dependent on the individual conditions. So, if you don't know anything, why do you express your unnecessary opinion? Work from home can be a good option, but it extracts a lot more out of the employee than at the office. It is not just easy.
