The state of IT Industry
by rahul vij on Aug 04, 2013 01:00 PM

This is the same with IT industry as a whole. Recently I was called for a Sales Manager position for a SAP services company based out of sarjapur road for Middle East Markets. The kind of questions they askedwas just most of market research and they were looking for names to tie up with partners in saudi arabia. The VP who took the final interview went a step further and asked to to do an assignment of market reserch which should contain the complete go about to hit that market and submit to him, then they might consider me if they wish. Amazing these employers think that we are gullible enough to fall into their trap. Infact even the consultant company got to understand this employer to trying to get free market research done from experienced people in disguise of offering them a job. Be careful about this company which is located right behind spencers on sarjapur road.

My Personal Experience
by prakash sharma on Aug 04, 2013 03:14 AM

I started off in Animation in 2006 . Joined a Institute for a 1 yr course as anybody would do . I was already a Business Management graduate back then . There used to be too much of hype surrounding Animations in those days . As the years went by , We started to realise that getting into Animation is easy becoz it doesnt ask u for any educational qualification but surviving in it is not everybody's cup of tea . It needs crazy patience and determination. You should be able to fight depression if u dun land up a job soon . some people have waited like over a year to get even a low pay job.Countless students in animation switch fields just becoz they get panicky . Its not their fault actually . Animation is yet to evolve as a serious career option . But people outside it , surely have a positive picture about Animations. But we know how much is the struggle inside it .One thing I have learnt is 'Quality always sells', No matter what's the market condition.Only professionals delivering mediocre results suffer the most. The best always survive.
believe me guys , its extremely difficult to produce quality results . It requires years n years of experience and hardwork.Work hours can be anywhere between 12-16 hrs a day. But people usually quit before they reach that point . Hence this situation. Now iam a freelancer in 3D Architectural Visualisation . I earn a decent income .Planning to expand further .But Im sure I wont quit . Come what May .

Not only with Animation industry...Its common in IT
by Abhishek Apte on Aug 03, 2013 01:12 PM

Dude...My sympathies with you and your family. This is actually true for whole IT industry. Someone said "LOVE YOUR JOB NOT YOUR COMPANY" because company is never going to love you back. Whenever you start getting hint the situation is going southwards...Switch the job. Someone will surely respect your talent outside. Today nobody cares for loyalty....So why care for company...

It can happen to any sector
by pradeep agarwal on Jul 30, 2013 01:00 PM

I can sympathize with the employees of animation sector, however, this remains a distinct possibility when overall economy is not doing well.It is a highly innovative line where new ideas can make existing work redundant overnight. The risk & rewards in technology driven sectors are high & need to be kept in mind during hey days.Telecom sector is a good example of how employees in paging,ISP lost out to mobile after very good salaries.

ECONOMY DOWN
by buzzer on Jul 30, 2013 12:39 PM  | Hide replies

The Govt is extremely short on finance. It has therefore instructed all departments to extract money using any means. WHICH IS WHY THERE IS A SPATE OF CASES. Customs , Excise, Service Tax, Income Tax.. etc etc.
Each Govt department is sending show cause notices, demands, summons for taxes, penalty, etc. New types of claims are being fabricated under each law even for businesses which are running legally. In cases where the claims are evidently baseless the Govt departments quietly tell the assessee to come under some compromise settlement so that there is at least some collection. Companies accept this because they cannot afford long drawn litigation - as it is sales are down for all. There is simply no money in the market.

sad reality.
by harkol on Jul 29, 2013 06:54 PM

I feel sad for the folks involved. Though I don't think the companies shaft their employees intentionally.

Most owners & top managers consider it their personal failure when employee salaries can't be paid. There are exceptions like Vijay Malya, but a lot of businesses fail inspite of best efforts of the Management.

Best thing for them to do is to level with Employees, ask them to quit immediately if they can't bear the loss of salary or taking the risk of business.

The managements make an error, in not telling employees that. They promise the delay is temporary, while they themselves are unsure. In the process they transfer the business risk to employees, without getting their consent.

I wish managers across the world learn to frankly state the risks to their employees and even after that if the employees choose to continue, it is left to their decision and risk appetite.

Very Wrong THing
by ss ss on Jul 29, 2013 06:21 PM

Dear All,
I know Crest Animations tried to bite more than they could chew. They started a co production movie with a foreign partner and the partner pulled off. Now- to bear the cost of the entire movie is not a joke. Request to rediff is not to create unnecessary panic- there are 1000s of companies operating in India in Animation. This is sending wrong signals to potential aspirants as well as to existing employees. Yes, not all the people get to work at high pay structures, similar to the fact that not all IIT grads and IIM grads make it big. Stop this over reaction.. Business drives all things and no one or no industry is insulated against it.

Quality Issue
by Karthik Madhavan on Jul 29, 2013 05:53 PM  | Hide replies

the entire issue from the above article is related to QUALITY. Now at least employees need to realize the importance of Quality not Quantity. At first place as one employee claims that faster machines are required. Point is whether the machine is slow or fast, Quality has nothing to do with it.it again the quantity he is referring to. Not many understand what Quality is to the business and customer growth.

By the way I am referring Quality here to Process. No one to blame here. Hopefully you guys get a good job ASAP. All the best.

Please do not write in general.....do you know the workflow of for creation of animation?. 3d animation creation is very much dependent on having hi-end processing.....If you have only used word & excel in your life you are not qualified to write.
