Like Indians do naot have any purchase power
by nitmohan on Aug 07, 2013 11:37 PM

same is reflected in other sectors.

Industrialist & companies don't have a capacity to purchase appropriate skilled people.

Most of the Indian industries are Forefathers handwork.

But 86.56% of the family owned Business/factories/establishments die at the end of the second generations middle age.

Hard to find IT manager
by nitin garg on Jul 25, 2013 11:03 PM  | Hide replies

It is not hard to find managers in the market, it is hard to choose. How many companies actually ask for project managers. No one wants managers. Many of my friends are looking for Management positions since long time. How much Indian companies offer to a manager. not even worth to survive. It is not that managers are hard to find. Managers are not cheap to be found. It costs money. Ready to pay good salary and when hiring manager, focus on management area, I bet any company will get plenty. Most of the time the HR person, inspite knowing nothing about either technology or management methodologies, shortlist the profiles of those candidates who use the searchable term but reject profiles of those who do real project management. Any 10th failure can search for terms in a resume. We hire HRs so that they can use their own common sense (Which is quite uncommon) and shortlist.

Commission from Job consultant is another bane to be considered.

Nitin it is easy to make HR the scapegoat. HR is not supposed to know all technical things. Do the line managers sleep while interviewing candidates!!!!

A Good Manager Must Be ...
Motivating Team
Setting Goals
Delegating Responsibility
Communicating
Dealing with Team to Learning
From Mistakes
Embracing Egalitarianism
Leadership Style

In my 15 years of experience i hardly found only 3 Managers with this characteristics.

In India Companies always try to hire Useless managers with no ethical, professional and Technical Values. These type always survived by praising others and want to get praised by others. I don't say that India doesn't have Best People, but Indian companies doesn't choose them.
