High maintenance cost of Bajaj bikes.
by Debasish Pathak on Jan 31, 2013 02:28 PM

I had a Bajaj Pulsar 150cc (2006) and had to sell it off because of its high maintenance cost. Its Engine needed complete overhauling at 43,000KM even after regular maintenance and single hand use. The present generation Pulsar bikes may be better but I would not recommend the same. I would recommend Honda Unicorn in the 150CC category for a much superior drive quality and longevity.

Fuel efficiency of bikes
by deepak sawant on Jan 31, 2013 01:39 AM  | Hide replies

I wonder why these companies keep on changing the models even if they are efficient?
regardless of the manufacturer,
e.g. 100cc series : can anybody have doubt on 4s champion,CD100SS for mileage/low maintenance? Is there any bike in this range with better pick-up than RX100?
175cc-250cc series: Is there any bike that gives you mileage of 40-45kmpl with so much load carrying capacity for any terrain, any weather other than Rajdoot/Yezdi? Once Grandappa used to buy Bullet and even the Grandson rides it in the same thrill & pride. But why are the consumers suffered for compelling to buy these so called advanced models that have no life more than 4-10 yrs?

1. Present generation is not bothered about Mileage and they want hip & Power

2. New models gets attention of Public. Else Nothing wrong with Performance of Bullet/RD 350/CD 100 Even CD 100 SS is not required

3. Folks have disposable income and are not bothered about changing bikes frequently. No more 10 year old bikes to present generation

Hope everyone drives safely

Completely agree with you. We have Rajdoot with just 3 gears and it is still in mint condition. Can go anywhere any time.

defined work for providers and end users
by arun sharma on Jan 30, 2013 04:53 PM

The defined job for policy makers and executers is to give BIJLI,PAANI AUR SADAK meaning to give electricity, water and road to all citizens even on PPP model. The duty of every common man is for ROTI,KAPDA AUR MAKAN meaning every body wants bread, clothes and house by earning themselves. If electricity is produced in large sandy areas or large hilly areas in tribal district on PPP model, majority problems in the country may be solved

You are right Sreenivas, these figures are from ideal testing conditions. 108 kmpl mileage of Platina whereas on road, on regular usage, it will be tough time to get even 90 kmpl.
There should be a difference highlighted somewhere for Claimed and Actual. Then we will know the good Company in 2 wheelers.

Automatic bikes??/
by shanti Patil on Jan 30, 2013 09:58 AM  | Hide replies

Automatic scooters are there in the market. Automatic cars are also there but there are no automatic motorcycles. Why?
Motor cycles are highly efficient two wheeler's. Automatic gear if added will be highly useful.

Gear gives more cotrol than gearless vehicles. Mainly gearless scooters are for ladies. It helps them to have smooth driving (but at the cost of less fuel economy). Bikes are with gear as it is mainly driven by male with more control on vehicle.

If there is no gears there is no fun. Ask any seasoned driver. Gear less cars/scooters/bikes are fit just for City driving.

GEARS ARE USED FOR ALTERING POWER TO GIVE BOTH EFFICIENCY AND POWER WITHOUT GEARS DESIGNERS ARE FORCED TO DESIGN BIKES WITH EQUALENT POWER AND MILEAGE, IT PRODUCES MORE POWER EVEN WHEN IT IS NOT REQUIRED.BUT GEARBIKES'S POWER CAN BEADJUSTED ACCORDING TO NEED SO ITPRODUCES GOOD MILEAGE. FURTHER IF WE ADD AUTO TRANSMISSION IT WILLADD TO WEIGHT AND GEARS ARE SHIFTED TOO LATE WHICH PUTS HANDS ON FUEL EFFICIENCY. HENCE IT IS BETTER TO HAVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
