I wouldn't agree with the generalization but, I would certainly say TN has done a great job empowering women. Long before you could see women autorickshaw drivers and petrol bunk operators in TN. I am talking about 20 years ago. Even today, in most parts of India, the only job a woman can do is to serve her husband.

True SP. And within household also women have a very strong say in decision making. And always they get equal share in property as well. These two things are more or less absent in most northern states. And infact, many women in south are directly involved in business, even like running a shop, as well. But many people simply based on the way women in south dress or the way they carry themselves in public as compared to their northen counterparts, wrongly assume that women are "suppressed" in the south and many religiously believe that they indeed are, while the facts are exactly the opposite. Such a typical myopic view, i see among many educated northies.
Well done Prema. Congratulation to you. By blessing of god almighty take new adventure in your career and shine in world level as proud to I am Indian.
it is surprising that a rickshawala's daughter can become a chartered accountant but now a days a chartered accountant's child does not become good enough to be a rickshawala.
congratulations and first media is reporting something favourable. media should promote such people and show such news repeatedly on news rather than showing some ugly incidents a thousand times a day by dramatising them
Dear Prema, Your name should be PRERANA. No work is small. Do'nt under estimate the work of auto driver. see the will power and hard work of the girl which should be PRERANA for others whose parent's earning are not so handsome.
