With requisite qualification you need influence and luck. I was in the best organisaion ie IAF purely on merit. However in civilian life it is purely luck and influence

The buffoons at HR in every company are self-important leeches who can be done away with altogether.
Totally unproductive scum.
Their only job seems to laze around and dream up such silly interview questions that does good only to them - not to the other employees or the company.

Interviews

Most interviews are a sham!

In a majority of cases, interviewer is highly incompetent and does not know how to interview!

To top that most job descriptions are vague and only superficially match what you have to actually do in the job!

What the cunning interviewers are looking for is how much of a threat you are to his position.

It is always best to show that you have medium level expertise of the skill set required in the job and that you are willing to be a "good team member" which is a fancy term for good back side liquor!

If the interviewer or hiring manager finds out that you are even slightly better than him, don't expect to get the job!

It is also very important to find out the unofficial organization structure of the organization you are interviewing in!

You should have a very good idea of who is licking whose back side if you want to survive and then thrive in that job!

Well said. If the interviewer (your immediate would be boss)feels you are more talented than him, be assured you are not going to get a job. They will attack on soft skills. Like you are very soft spoken, you should be authoratative etc etc. This is my personal experience.

nothing depend on such answers in India
by M on Jan 22, 2013 01:47 PM  | Hide replies

Nothing depend on such answers in India ;
Its all hoodwinking gullible indians;
For Capitalists India a looting heaven and people are there to exploit; whether qualified or illiterate;
100% appointments are prejudiced and majority are fixed on profitability;
All indian companies behave alike and practice alike;
Indian interviews are not liked with work-competency but sycophancy ,nepotism and networking;
When running a company has no standard governance and match on political mercy and snatching political deals then how came there could be a standard on employees or recruitment ?
ITS ALL A JOKE and masses know it!

suggestions given were reasonable.Private companies are desparate for good working people which has become rare commodity.People are physically present for 8 hrs and it is the firm and boss to utilise them.They only check the salary at the end of month.In between brain is left at the gate and picked up while going
engineers are either in software or in finance
There is total short supply of skilled staff in various fields when people go to software and finance only,where is the question of nepotism arises?

esp. the last one. How many employers in India are honest that they give a letter certifying an employee that (s)he is being sacked for business reasons?

How many recruiters actually sack a better performing employee and keep others? Obviously, chances of prospective employer doing a right thing by recruiting such a person are bleak. No one with commonsense would ever do that.

However, if the interview went very well the new job is offering half the CTC than the previous, you can reveal.
