The highest number of World Heritage Site listed in India is in Tamil Nadu.Still they haven't mentioned a single one.Its really pathetic reporting by Rediff.

The Bragadeesvarar temple @ Tanjore & rock cut temples Mahabalipuram are missing. Meenatchi temeple in Madurai also missing. These are all world heritage sites of UNESCO. Bragdeesvarar temple was built with a 40Tons weight of single stone roof at around 100 Mtrs height. This temeple was built around 1050 years back.

The famous Brahadeeswara Temple at Tanjavur in TN has been left out. How is it? Definitely its one of world heritage site of UNESCO.

the morale of the story is, if you have hostile environment (that is the image we have about ourselves to outsiders), even if you have the best heritage site, it will be unnoticed and not worthy of a mention.

ur right, TN is having hostile environment, its always intimidating to enter that teritory bcoz of malicious people trying to make a killing out of tourists speaking in tamil

I visited Brihadeeswara temple, Gangaikonda Cholapuram,Mahabalipuram as well as myriad ancient temples of Tamilnadu without encountering any "hostile" environment. On the other hand in certain holy places in North and Central India, I found the priests were fleecing the visitors by adopting intimidating tactics.

Good! Let me say once again that Aldous Huxley wrote an appreciative essay on the red sandstone structures of Sikri. Taj Mahal however fares rather poorly in his estimate.

well, tn guys are frog in well. kinathu thavalai. tn guys didnt even want to allow mahapalipuram to be declared as heritage site. to qualify as heritage site, for certain distance no shops etc. which tn guys protest... u go to all the temples u mentioned, if u want u can also shiit near the temple. noone cares....goto tiruvannamali, u will get all disease near the temple. suyapuranam pesi pesi tamil naatai kedukaatheenga
