It was once but a small patch of unwanted land near sea shore that accidentally came to be used by european sailors to just briefly dock their goods. After being obtained by them for a small gift pack the city grew leaps and bounds. For millions residing mainly in rather backward and degenerate northern states, it was an inspiring new world where they came to enliven their dreams. Those from backward bihar, rajastan,UP , bengal , Assam etc would endeavour there to become from nobody to great entrepreneurs. Such was the impact of this job immigration that mumbai VT railway station started hosting a record 180 trains perday to north india. But sadly after 1950s local politicians have had their way.

It is expected that when you host something for larger audience you should be factually correct. Shame on rediff.Do your research more diligently. The following statement is also not correct. "Nearly 41 per cent of the sample profiles came from the IIMs,ISBs and select IITs and almost all of them were for the consulting division of the company".
