The article seem to be a bit exaggerated. With 15 yrs of experience in diverse work environment, I don't feel threatened by my colleagues or my boss. Don't expect appreciation for every work you do, instead just do your work sincerely, because that's your job and most importantly don't forget that you get paid for it.

yes dear, its really difficult. if u are earning one and no problem till now, then u might be the very very few of the lucky ones but always be alert as bad days may just be round the corner.
The real reason for rampant office politics in many of the organizations is the tacit support offered and sustained for such politics by upper mid and upper management!
When mid upper and upper management has real reasons to feel threatened by their subordinates, it plans and implements a culture of office politics in its subordinate ranks.
mid upper and upper management identifies and selects the "right" people to implement its office politics plans.
It is no surprise that the people who actively indulge in office politics usually do less or no official work at all.
These "politicians" are guaranteed job security by the bosses so that most subordinates stay hardworking and obedient by working twice as hard to manouvre through the nasty waters of office politics!
It is important to first figure out the unofficial organization structure of your workplace when you join a new company.
These 6 tips are a good general guideline but may need to be adapted based on the specific situation at your workplace!
