Sumit Patil enjoys neither the advantage of belonging to the SC/ST categories nor the advantage of being a non-engineer!
The first named category has IIM/IIT seats virtually handed to them on a platter while non-engineers have most IIMs 'helping' them by improving their CAT scores hugely by adding up their verbal scores to their overall scores to 'level' up the playing field for them (while engineers have their quant scores added up to their overall scores - and verbal scores almost always are much higher than quant scores)!!
If you look around most of the CEO's of top companies are not from IIM's or IIT's. None of the billionairies or big industrialists are from IIM or IIT. List the superrich of India and you hardly find anyone from IIT or IIM. This means IIT or IIM can at best give a good starting job and nothing more. There are many angutachaps who are worth hundreds of crores and they achieved that in just about 20 years from scratch. I have seen engineers from reputed colleges working in companies owned and run by these angutachaps who cannot even put a signature and use thumb impression.
