MBA is useless if one does not get a campus placement with a very good salary and position. If one does not have a good start then it takes years to reach a decent level. Most institutes do not reveal the fact about their placements. Actually, prospective employers do not go to any institute just because the institute has a great infrastructure or marketing etc. They go where they get best quality candidates. MBA as such does not make anyone capable or intelligent or high quality. Almost every institute teaches the same thing, then what makes IIMA or IIMB the choice of employers? It is the quality of the students there. If you manage to get there then you automatically get an opportunity to give few interviews for high paying employers and that is the key. It is not that everyone in IIMA is top quality but as the average quality is high even the lowest quality among them manages to get some good interviews and may be a job which he may not actually deserve fully. There could be a better student in another institute but he won't get a chance to give a similar interview to the same employer. If one is serious about MBA then one should look only at IIMA, IIMB, FMS, XLRI where due to their track record they get good quality students and hence high paying employers. Most of the other institutes, especially the private ones, are just shops who sell degree. You pay money and you get degree. No one counts it anyway.
