Actually, it is India which is unsafe for majority of merit and talented students, (even for employees). thanks to reservations and appeasements, fringe benefits to some particular communities, which I suppose do not exist in any other country on earth.
Almost all US cities have dangerous areas which need to be avoided!
Indian students who get into trouble do so because they violate the no-off-campus-employment condition of their US student visa and work in these dangerous areas because nobody in their right mind wants to work in such places!
The possibility of being a crime victim goes up exponentially in such places!
Hence what the d1nk diplomat should have said was "it depends", instead of moronic and categorical "No"!
