NANO

It is possible to retrofit whatever you want in a car as add on. On basic price what NANO is offering is worth for the money. If you want fancy go for airbag, octance fuel for long engine life, hydrogen gas filled tyres etc., to have comfort. For information of readers toyota engines has a life of 2 lac KMs and nobody in the worl rebuilts the engines except we indians. They simply replace the engines to drive trouble free. Instead of riding scooters and bikes better ride in a closed vehicle comfortably in city/townships and not to venture on highways due to mindless drivers of heavyvehicles.

"If you must be colonised, Vanessa Able writes, be colonised by the French. Seen here is the French Consulate in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu"

Puducherry is not in Tamil Nadu, but a separate UT.

nano should have survived 10,000kms easy. but did she have any mech problems and what were they? anybody know?
and how many kms does the average nano engine blow up at?
(i heard that at one stage the now-tata owned landrover freelander engines used to need replacing at 100,000kms which is really terrible..as most modern cars can do about 180,000kms )

Only nano owners know everything real about the car. I am an owner having done over 20K km in a little over one year. As for the engine, It is as good as any car if not better. I cant comment about how much the engine will last but given its current condition, I am pretty sure it should cross 1,00,000 kms. Anyway, its not going to be used past that mark. It has the ground clearance of a scorpio and the one of the best pickup for 0 to 60 kph. The mileage you get will full time AC on is 18 in the city and 22-23 on highways. This is when pushed really hard without the so-called mileage efficient driving etiquettes.

Now for the parts where you have to compromise. I wont talk about the image part, as that is the only genuine problem Tata Nano has. Its only to do with sick Indian mentality. Agreed, It wont offer you the comfort of a car costing 5 lac but under that category it offers the best space. Dont let the small car factor fool you. Compared to Alto, it has HUGE space and also a 4-star NCAP safety. (FYI Alto has 0 stars and failed the NCAP). Let companies like Maruti Fool you, unless you are spending a good amount you wont really get a complete car. For that matter, all entry level cars - nano, alto, eon, i10, a-star and the like belong to the same league - BUDGET CLASS.

Only having a powerful engine and more metal does not make you safe. Its the metal that hurts you and mosty structural dynamics matters
