My suggestions
by LettertoEditor on Aug 29, 2013 12:32 AM  | Hide replies

My suggestion to all employees is

1) Do not love company and during appraisal time especially better if you go for interviews and have offer letters in hand no matter how hard working you are

2) Resign only after you get 2-3 offers in hand no matter how much the current boss is misbehaving with you

3) Once you join a company if you are put on bench by PM/DM immediately start looking outside for job

4) Invest in property rather than car and foreign trips so that if you do not get job for long periods that property can be rented for daily karch

5) Go abroad and work atleast for 15 years because work is less pay is more and do that by the time you are 30

6) In India people above 35-40 are considered not so eligible for jobs especially in private sectors. If you are a girl 30-35 years is the limit. No matter how good you are getting job in your field especially after 8-10 years of experience is very tough.

7) Do dual specializations in college like BE MBA, BCOm MCA etc so you can change career from one to another

8) Master degree holders beware your degree has no value in india. BCom is perferred over MBA, Mcom, CA etc So do not waste time studying master degee if you get job after degree take it.

9) The best job for next generations is Doctor, BE Architecture, Law, CA because you can open your own practice no need of a company to provide job

10) Beware of what you speak with close friends in office. No one is a friend there all are competing

How i was tricked by my employers?
by LettertoEditor on Aug 29, 2013 12:17 AM

I have very bad experience with two of my companies. One i worked for almost a decade and the last boss would always tell my work is done by his favourite and get him credit. Finally after appraisal i was given low rating and i resigned giving the necessary 3 mths notice but was told to leave in 15 days. That was illegal as per the company policy because everyone is expected to give 3 months notice. The next companies refused to believe my story and i did not get another job for more than 16 months after that and i was only working member of my family with retired non-pensionable parents to care for and my brother refused to give any money. All my PF and gratuity amount i spent in those 17 months. Another company i joined after refusing offer for a good position for double the pay kept me on bench for 3 months and told me to leave within a day. No sir no one met me to tell me that a con call was scheduled and in the conference room i was told management has decided to remove some employees and you are one of them so pls send us your resignation letter by tommorow. I was not even given a desk in that company and went home and sent my resignation mail from my house. Its more than a year since then and i am not getting a job. Again all my life savings are gone. I regret not joining the other company. I used to work 12-15 hours a day and this was how comapnies treat you. My health is ruined and i never had a family life. Both these companies are in the Top 5 Indian IT companies

human values
by pup on Aug 28, 2013 05:07 PM

companies have lost human values in trying to make money...there is a certain amount of respect hat needs to be shown even when you are laying off a person...people have lost basic values like empathy, benevolence etc...we need to reinforce these values in childhood and make human beings richer on emotions and value rather than money..

Lucky....
by SR Hari on Aug 28, 2013 02:34 PM  | Hide replies

This person who gave an account of her ordeal is lucky that she was quite young, not burdened financially, had the family to support her.

What if a similar thing happens to someone after putting in 30 years of service that too if salary is not paid for 5-6 months continuously before being laid-off, the settlement is not done even after 1.5 years? What about the family of the person, his job opportunity (it seems to be a sin in India to be 50 , job wise)?.

And if this is being done by one of the big names in the Industry, through dubious means? Management talks of Values, Trust, Service and all that is just for the sake of power-point presentations. When it comes to reality, they don't hesitate to stoop down to any level to "cheat" hundreds of employees, vendors and even customers. Unfortunately, they still get away even after ruining hundreds of families. No labour court / law would rescue the victims thanks to the prevailing corruption. The legal process goes on & on, makes the "victim" pauper who will loose interest even in the legal process after few months / years.

The "big corporate" continues to exist after starting another company. The story restarts....
