Beauty Pageant
by Prashanth Talla on Apr 25, 2013 08:25 PM  | Hide replies

They conduct Beauty Pageants to make women feel less confident about there physical looks and push the cosmetics to cover them up. If I remember correctly, immediately after Sushmita Sen/Aishwarya Rai won the respective titles, followed by media flashing their acheivement, the Indian Women suddenly started thinking too much about their physical beauty and also the cosmetic industry in India started its boom time. Now a days, the situation is no Indian Urban Women goes out without any makeup I believe. Its all to push those chemicals onto the Indian Women.

Overall, the culture of beauty pageants without any doubt not only pushes up the cosmetic industry but unfortunately, Indian Culture is badly effected in numerous ways. I do not want to elaborate on the 2 nd point but I believe all sensible people out there would understand

BTW, Sushmita, Aishwarya were crowned at that time when India opened its gates for FDI for economic improvements. All the foreign cosmetic companies saw this as an golden opportunity to push their products that is when they were crowned and media kept on singing miss universe/world songs for long time to make Indian Women feel about their skin and buy those chemicals.

The impulse to rape is a mental disorder. Not everyone is a rapist. There needs extensive advertisement campaign laws enforcement retrained judges and police. Will this happen in India? Not likely, will take years. In the meantime lives of victims are destroyed

sure you are very beautiful than an average indian girl but to imagine that "everybody in India suddenly recognises you" is bordering on lunacy. No body gives a rat's @ss about you representing india

only in socially underdeveloped
by Google on Apr 25, 2013 04:29 PM  | Hide replies

only in socially underdeveloped countries like India beauty competitions are given so much of attention...I fail to digest th fact tht how can we give some one just physically beautiful so much of importance, and when ppl say its not only abt beauty its about brains also, well I feel sorry for them, if we call rehearsed answers as brains then tht says alot about our brains...I feel sorry tp point out I have been living in the UK for 5 years and non of the media has ever shown who is the Miss UK, I doubt if they even compete for the titles...this beauty competitions shows tht you dont need any special talent o be successful and demoralizing talented ppl in India result of which they move out where their talent recognized, and thts very natural, you cant live somewhere you are not comfortable living...

well said bro! But your views will be taken with a pinch of salt, pepper and more pepper in India. Brain drain is a perennial phenomenon in India but no one bothers about it. People are happy with what they are.
