Another common mistake: A few v/s few
by Deleep devasia on Apr 15, 2013 07:00 PM  | Hide replies

There are FEW students in the class room = There are no students in the classroom
There are A FEW students in the class room = There are some (very less) students in the class room.

I think, many people often use "few" to mean "a few" in our daily life.

There are few means there are not many.

There are a few means there are some, the number is not zero.

Your third statement is correct!

Thanking you

The author has provided some really useful inputs, which we may know and still tend to ignore. But I don't agree with fact that "Thanking you" is redundant. It can still be used at the end of the letter provided the subject matter of the letter requires so.

By "fact" you presumably mean something like "assertion". You can't dispute a fact! There is a missing "the".
