If consumers en masse protest for implementation of similiar measures. If PUNJAB BANK AND UNION BANK can implement the system, why can't the other majors. or instead, the BUDDY accepting the card can as for a photo id. Most of the people carry their PANCARD OR DRIVING LICENSE

Why don't the banks use a miniATM machine as used worldwide
by jack dawson on Sep 21, 2012 06:24 AM

I have lived in North America for 25 yrs and there,if you lose your debit or crdit cards, you can live bindass. If anyone try to use the card, the person accepting the card ask him to to enter his PIN number on a pad akin to a ATM.Thia is true of EUROPE,CANADA,USA.Ah forget about the developed countries. Even in CUBA,WESTINDIES,IVORY COAST,this is the norm. Some of the indian banks like bank of Punjab,Union bank has recently started this. I have written to all the banks and they usually say the same statementthat its not practical. IN a supposedly a leader of computer technology,it is impossible. Some banks like ABN AMRO affix the card holder's photo on the card, but the bussy accepting the card do not care to check it. Once he swipes the card, his job is finished. I have 5 debit cards and 3 credit cards. If I lose them its a panic emergency. Guess if consumers en masse, maybe the banks will implement something similiar.

Prevention is better than cure. These days, you can avail of Emergency assistance services like, what a company called 'One assist Consumer SOlutions' provide. In case of a loss of Wallet, Mobile, they help you block all your cards, pay for any fradulent transactions 7 days prior to reporting loss and after.
They also block your phone and sim card and help you get your data back, without being mis-used by others.
