killing indian education
by Li Na on Sep 23, 2012 10:31 AM

Reservation and the fact the people can pay their way to a degree, is killing indian education. Medical seats are almost sold for a crore.
How on earth will we get students if the quality of people getting in is compromised. Fact is many SC/ST are very rich, yet want reservation benefits. Classic case was when a couple making 30 Lakhs annually wanted RTE benefits of free education for their kid.

Now every community wants to gain its benefits and turn up with a begging bowl of a "BC" status for their caste....for which they gleefully damage train tracks and public property causing severe losses, until they are granted the required BC status.

Caste is not written in anyone's face. Given the corruption, anyone can pay the right amount and get a caste certificate.

It's a useless system that benefits only few individuals, who perhaps don't require the help.

Our national policy is to kill .No where in the world you have admissions for below average reserved more than 50 % .In every aspect of our lives - we think of votes ,not the progress of a caste or community . Recently I read only 17% of MBA's are employable , and also about President of the country lamenting that no university of India is in the top 200 in the world . If you have been talking about students abroad - may be you are right - becuase of the rotten system they get out of the country , most of them middle class , honest and hard working people called general category .these families virtually pledge everything they earned over 15 -20 years for educating their children and many of them take loans for their education. Anyway it was nice some one recognises the caliber of the students and says good things .All the same the system in India is a shame for any nation -just the elected representatives .

While showering praise on the quality of the Indian Students,DrStephen Troope knows in the bottom of his heart that the Indians are only Academic Brains and not creative brains. His statement is only a PR exercise to boost the cash inflow of the University.

Most of the asians who study abroad indians never want to settle in india. Not that indians are more intelligent than others. If indians are really intelligent why dont they scientific and logical minds to remove corruption and poverty. Intelligent minds use more common sense along with scientific knowledge. But in indians it is lacking

No doubt, Indians have one of the best calibre, but all is wasted here due to British time bureacratic approach and political set up. Where unfits are ruling over most fits.

Cooperation, kindness, and friendliness are the enemy of quality.

A forum is of no worth if people do not criticize ideas, which is normally not possible without criticizing people. It is a substitute for trying an idea in practice and then finding its defects.

So it is better to answer the points raised rather than to ask for not raising them in the name of nationalism or patriotism. False praise that makes the nation weak cannot be very patriotic.
