what I-Phone ? It is android which is ruling the market
by vikas trivedi on Sep 07, 2012 01:34 PM  | Hide replies

Android has killed Nokia ,
Android is currently getting 1 million activation's per day , and is commanding 67% of the smartphone market and growing .
Apple has a meagre 27% , mostly die-hard snobs.

Google android has destroyed Nokia ,
Now Apple is next on line

Android did it for free what ever iphone did for its own devices. Android is a copy cat. I dont see any new innovation from Android. If you find new which is not available or impossible in iphone or lumia then let me know.

Better get update your self rather than posting like donkeys. After Apple victory over SS, Android is in big trouble because many of its applications breach apple's patents.

I like its usability and the tiles design, it has value
by Srikanth D on Sep 07, 2012 01:20 PM

Earlier when we saw the iphone for the first time, it sounded very good cause, at then there was no such smart phone in the market. Android came and it did what ever iphone did at free of cost but I don't see much signature style Apps which are available just with Android.

Now it is Windows Mobiles. Right now every company is improving the current smart phone usabilities, I feel Nokia/Windows phones did the same. The tile design is great with more usability. I don't like any more the static sleeping big icons on iphone or android, they dont give any value. Windows Tiles comes with lot of live content, which is great usability improvement.

We need to wait and see what iPhone 5 will do more. Since Apple is named for innovation.

Nokia Humility to the core !!!
by Raja Srinivasan on Sep 07, 2012 12:53 PM

Nokia design Chief Marko Ahtisaari says :

" Apple offers one path for4 design with apps and folders;
Android is a variation of that with multiple choices;
And now this is the THIRD OPTION, involving live tiles that give real time, at-a-glance information about applications lurking beneath. It is another take on completely solving all the things that SMARTPHONES NEED TO DO."

He also says : "The best way you can show respect for competition is to do something meaningfully better."

His focus, as he himself clearly admits, is on DESIGN - to take Apple head-on. His respect for others is commendable. He joined Nokia in 2000 and left after a few years(not sacked); became an enterpreneur for two years and REJOINED Nokia in 2006 and has been regarded an intelligent and dedicated steward of NOKIA.

His words about others personify HUMILITY. He is sure to be rewarded for the Lumia and the market share of Nokia could well be on the ascendency soon.

Boring icons
by Mohan Chellappa on Sep 07, 2012 12:52 PM  | Hide replies

I never liked the icon based screen in iphone. It is available in my Rs.1200 Samsung old phone. Even Nokia B&W has icons.
On the contrary Windows mobile Startup screen was well informativeand had lot of useful apps..Hope Windows phone does it better.

I agree with you, the icons dont give much value. I like Nokia tiles, they are not just sleeping tiles, but they give us live content.

Mr Infinity
Re: Re: Nokia and Microsoft
by Mr Infinity on Sep 07, 2012 12:51 PM
Yes, Win8 is really good. But the reason why people started moving to Android is not just because it's the best. Android gives you freedom to develop, distribute and sell with comparatively less cost involved. No need of paid licenses for each and every step.

Even for consumers (or end users) it helps a lot as it gives them lot of options to customize and get loads of applications from stores.

It's a handheld device based system and each penny of the cost matters here. No wonder why Android suddenly stormed the market.

Sometimes just being amazing is not enough. :)

Dont comment with so such negitive attitude. Compare and then decide. We all know (Nokia too) that Apple is a class; So obviously(common sense) Nokia would have made this phone comparable to or better than Apple.
