this is a big joke Apple products above the rest. wwe know what happened to Microsoft devices to counter IPod we know their fate. The same would happen with this surface too.

What about the overhead load of Virus & its Antivirus? It is the major negative point of MS products. iPAD gains major in this regard.

Windows tablet is going to have a very similar functionality as in Windows current. As soon as you plug a device, it automatically identifies what it is & gives you option to open in supported app. It can recognize pen drive, ipods etc. So the your question is not to Microsoft whether you can copy the installer but to the HP whether they will give you a compatible installer!

IPAD
by Indian on Oct 19, 2012 09:29 AM  | Hide replies

Ipad has 65% Market Share among All tablets

IPad has 92% INterneT Traffic among all Tablets

MIcrosoft is never a leader or innovator. It copied GUI (graphical user Interface of Mac OS in its windows 3.1)
Microsoft bought Foxpro to kill Dbase
Microsoft came out with Zune to compete with Ipod (and failed)
Microsoft followed with Xbox to take over PlayStation (yet PlayStation ruled till Ipad came over)

Ipad is expensive, But offers value for money.

There will be Windows and there will be Android, but none are yet closer to Ipad.

As of now,, Ipad is way way ahead.

@Indian: What made you say that Microsoft copied the GUI from Apple? Get your facts straight. The GUI was not invented by Apple. Apple stole it from XEROX... XEROX was the first company to come up with the GUI.

For your information - Xbox 360 sells more than PS3..
Plus the online gaming exp of XBOX 360 is a class apart - something PS was never able to cope up..
PLUS the motion gaming KINECT - Also class apart from WII and PS MOVE

What you are saying is that 'No once create better products than Apple ever' & what I am saying is that it is rude to think like that. Innovation may be in blood of Apple but it is not their copyright.
Anyone, anytime, anywhere can come up with a better ideas & may be a few years after you will curse Apple same way as you are cursing other companies.
We live in a fast changing world buddy!

Will tablet suit my needs.
by rajesh r on Oct 19, 2012 07:09 AM  | Hide replies

Hai there, currently I use my P.C for page making, mainly word and excel, and printing of the same and downloading from the internet. Will ordinary tablets allow me to draft 5 to 6 page length documents and excel sheets and take printouts, from this article I gather I may be able to do the above work but at that price would a laptop not be a better option. Ofcourse I do travel a lot and compactness is a plus.

It definitely fits your requirement, but not at the price you are asking! I am sure you will realise the potential of a tablet as and when you start using one. Main take-home points with Tablets: Connectivity, Documentation / presentation / printing / photoshop, Internet & Shopping experience, GPS Navigation & Maps (3D), Gaming, Portability & compactness, Longivity (battery), Increased memory capacities, Shooting pics on the fly and sharing, phone calls, SMS, MMS, Video Conferencing, Television, and high speed downloads with LTE, are a few of the features which will dominate notebooks in the next 3-4 years!

there are ppl who are happy with their desktop and nokia monochrome smart phone, so where should be draw line? there are ppl who upgrade themselves with every new iphone, so its more or less need based, use of tablets are to use it onsite of construction, oil base, reading books, email conversation, better way to access internet compared to mobile phones, good for graphics designing and many more..

I will not agree with the word "Need Based". It is purely on basis of perception of different kinds like, one up-man-ship, feel of using latest one, feel of being with the elite one, to impress others etc.

Seems to be a genuine question. Earlier people used to carry laptop and mobile. Now some of them carry tab also. Tab has excellent features but it has not replaced either mobile or laptop. Feature wise and weight wise netbooks are as good as or better than most of the tablets. So I can identify the issues Deepak has raised.
