In my opinion he was good for the situation before 1947 to unite Indians. But after that he interfered in Indian politics, that showed his wrong/ narrow mentality. Due to his some poor statement, India has the problem now. Like Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indian politics come under Nehru house i.e. bullshit for the country. Now he becomes the base of India Bad Situation.
After freedom of the country he thinks like he is greater than India. That's why Nathuram Godse took a good decision to kill him. But unfortunately, it's too late.
After and all, we are noone to blame the olders. If we see what am I? What's of our contribution to our nation? Then we have the right to criticize others. Best to see ourselves. That's type of thinking can grow our country.

If we had Netaji Bose or Sardar Patel as our first PM in 1947 we would have been a super power by now&NOT one fof the weakest& poorest nations on Earth! British double agent Mkgandhee&nehru dynasty have wrecked our Nation forever folks! The hunger for power by nehru&jinnah was the main reason for parttion& though we are told by vested media &dynasty&western crooks that MKgandhee& nonviolence had won us the indpependence, the truth is entirely different! If Netaji Bose&INA cadres had NOT planned naval mutiny britishers would NEVER have lfet india too! Though crooked westerners praise MKgandhee and nonviolence 24 hours a day for the past 200 years,TheCrooked westerners USE VIOLENCE 224 hours a day for the past 2000 years including last 200 yearsToo!What a shame that one billion indiansMade morrons&enniuchs&coward by MKG&nonviolnce trick have been made morrons forever and this allowed the crooked wetreners to LOOT trillions and trillions of dollars without getting HURT or Killed,Shame!

How could you guarantee that Pate or Subhas Bose acted differently than the Nehru. Which historical fact indicate so? Or is it from the History lesson learnt at Dinanath Batra School of history rewriting?

Gandhis Greatness
by Vineet Nagar on Oct 02, 2013 07:45 PM  | Hide replies

Without Gandhi's unique ability to unite Indian people from east to west and north to south, there would have be no independence and perhaps no India as we know it today. Without his honest and upright leadership, every region and every community of India would have gone separate ways. He was not perfect as he saw no evil in any one (including Muslims and Muslim league leaders that wanted to create a separate country). So appreciate you ungrateful people - India that you know is India what this frail man and the people inspired by him created for you.

There WAS NO India as a country before 1947.

It was a collection of some 700 small kingdoms. The concept of country didn't even exist before Gandhi and Congress came on the scene.

India is an old Civilization but a very NEW country. Get some real education it will help.

Agree with Vineet Nagar. If Gandhiji was not there, Indian Independence would have been delayed. He inspired illeterate mass and cemented their aspiration for India's independence which most post-independence, Incl. Current leaders abused for their petty gains. If Gandhiji was alive today, he would have been the most disillusioned man.

While I have immense respect for Gandhiji..its a real shame that in midst of all the madness of today's politics and sycophancy of congress leaders, we seem to have forgot the birth anniversary of one of the best ( for me the best!) Prime Minister that India had ever had... Lal Bahadur Shastri... A true visionary and the man who believed in simplicity and sense of purpose... a great follower of his mentor, the father of the nation. The least that the media can do is to remember him. Jai Javan..Jai Kisan!!

Gandhi and his principles
by sundar ananthanarayanan on Oct 02, 2013 03:52 PM  | Hide replies

In my opinion,Gandhi was a bundle of contradictions. He was also not very honest as portrayed to be.How come a western eductaed Nehru who did not care for village economy and cottage industries be his successor. It was to spite Rajaji who called a spade a spade that he declared Nehru as his successor.Nehru also did not care for prohibition whereas Rajaji carried on a campaign and made prohibition official in Madras State. Rajaji was called his conscience keeper just to pacify him whereas Gandhi was only in favour of only the rich and affluent Nehru

Raja Ji was an intelligent man but was not as accessible to masses as Nehru was. Nehru was a very popular grass root leader. Also, Nehru had experience in foreign policies as he took the case of Indian independence in many European forums in 30s and 40s. He was also younger than many senior leaders in Congress at that time. That made him a good choice to be the prime minister in 1947 since you needed certain continuity for a new country with no constitution and no history of a democratically elected Government. This is the reason Gandhi persuaded even Patel to let Nehru be the president of Congress part in 1946 and be the prime minister of India.

Gandhi was no perfect leader but as a human being he was saint in a real sense (just listen to his speeches). He always thought of others and the country and not for himself.

Spin the wheel....a bit back
by Bharat Kumar on Oct 02, 2012 03:33 PM  | Hide replies

Important to understand. You can't choose between people, whom you would take care of and whom you wouldn't! Just as you wouldn't choose between children.

If you do, you have to face the consequences, like India ones today. The Mahatma must be disturbed iin his resting place.

Time for deep introspection. The ticking has started, very few who can defuse it. Listen to those who make you aware. Those in comfort zones know and can fly out, the common ones like you and me will be left stranded

Therefore, starting from this minute, stand up for the right causes. If you do anything else or even keep silent, you will regret it

BEWARE!

LOOK BEYOND YOURSELF YOU TERRIORIST AZIZ.

Look beyond yourself

'There is more to life than simply increasing its speed.'

In very many ways, Gandhi could have led a comfortable life had he chosen to. The young Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi had a lot going for him -- he had, after all, a foreign degree, held a steady job and had seen the world so to say before that fateful night when he was thrown out of the first class train compartment at Pietermaritzburg in South Africa in spite of holding a valid ticket.

As he sat shivering in the winter night in the waiting room of the railway station, Gandhi could have well shrugged off and moved on with his life accepting discrimination as part of living and focussing rather on making two ends meet.

Instead, the night proved to be a turning point in his life as he decided to stay on in South Africa and fight the racial discrimination against Indians there. It was here that Gandhi would formulate the unique version of nonviolent resistance that would change the world for ever -- Satyagraha.

At a time when material benefits and personal gratification seem to be the call of the day, Gandhi's words ring truer than ever.
