Banks cannot violate BCSBI Code. Should they violate and as a result any customer suffers, he should initiate his case with the Banking Ombudsman. The erring bank would get a lesson !
Had a similar experience with ICICI bank. They Followed up very strongly with me for a credit card. When I said yes and put in an application there was silence for 3 months.I followed up with them for a week as I did not get a proper response. Finally their answer was that customer has to assume that an application is rejected if you dont get a confirmation within 1 Month.3 years back had a similar experience with ICICI Bank. They rejected my application stating that I lived in a suburban area where they dont approve for credit cards
the new age banks are absolutely careless about the human aspect of banking. for that area - nothing like knowing a local representative. the new age banks are all about numbers, and they reduce people to figures too.
unfortunately the nationalized banks are learning this fast from their new age counterparts
Most of the problems is due to lack of transparency on the part of the Bank officials. In my case, i wanted a housing loan - my father was purchasing a flat and i wanted to help him by taking a partial loan. The bank officials intially were very keen on gvivng me the loan and the intial papers were cleared also. Then when it came to loan disbursement there came absolute silence. I was interacting with a lady officer - full gloss and lipstick - but no basic decency to even call and tell me that the loan sanction got struck in their credit dept as i was not owner of the flat. Had this glossy clevage showing lady told me earlier, my time wont have got wasted.
