More " damages " might be forthcoming for the telecom users in India, once the NEW 2 G spectrum AUCTION is over ! The more the amount raked in by the government through auctions, the more will be the " damages " for the Telecom users, whether postpaid or prepaid !!!

Beware of Service Providers
by anil israni on Nov 30, 2012 03:33 PM

I happened to get Airtel Internet wireless connection few year back with Netconnect dongle. The Plan specified was Rs599/- unlimited.

However after 6 months of so of usage I got the bill of above 2500/plus. Various complaints were lodged but no one bothered to reply even, however I did not pay the bills the next month onwards the plan charges plus interest kept of mounting.

For non payment of bills even some persons were sent for collection to avoid the embarassment I had to pay up even though I was not at fault it took me several months to get back the advance paid inspite of cancellation with proper procedures.

This is for general advice to get prepaid connection instead of Postpaid from any of the service providers as you do not know how these providers can find out ways to cheat, you do not expect persons like us to go to Consumers courts or whatsoever since these are still very weak in our country and to get Justice is a difficult task.

I think the best way of cancelling a postpaid connection is to convert it into prepaid connection first and then not use after the balance gets exhausted.
Before that do not forget to collect back your refund of deposit if any paid earlier at the time of taking postpaid connection.
I have done the same without any difficulty, the difference is I am still continuing with prepaid SIM and can discontinue at any time.

post paid.
by Rajesh Kumar on Nov 30, 2012 12:28 PM  | Hide replies

post paid must be thrown out. all should be pre-paid with no expiry date or after one year it may get automatically cancelled if not recharged.

I think govt and tri needs to look at consumer point of view not to facilitate and harass consumers.

All telecome companies cheat the consumers, once the consumer caught into their net then these companies dont let hir or her go easily and want to roast/loot completely.
