Yes, we are interested in promoting excellence so that the nation comes up. The 1932 resolution is surely less important than that. If Ambedkar were alive now he would agree that the reservation system is a failure, not the key to progress as you think.
There are, of course, many other problems besides reservations.
The universities can seek world recognition if the research content is expanded. The faculty mmebers growth dpends on their ability to sell research.we need good labs.Currently IITs have it and so MNC are interested to collaborate with them.Academic Institution's growth is linked to Industry promotion
who can beat us on innovative ideas on corruption, buttering, delay tactis, red tape, etc.
From common man to people to industry , New idea or enterprenuers are a Big No No..
you come up with idea of getting rich overnight ,you will be oversubscribed.
IT's really strange to that a country which gave world idea of "tyaag" "Tapsaya" "Balidaan" is innovating shortcuts ,why??
The answer is simple in our country you have to be aligned with system of corruption to become rich.
We will always refute new idea in the name of videshi, never creat anything which we can call proudly "Swadeshi" and make mockery of all brilliant innovation of the world saying that this already existed in our "Old wise books"
But no body will ever answer that why all wisdom of our's strike in mind of their in a modern and workable form?
Corruption is not about harrasing people in doing their routine things but more about corruptin the philosphy of living ,and firm the beleive that Great things are done through short cuts only.if u r rich and powerful u will get it even if u donn deserve ,we hardly have any place for merit ,innovation in daily lives.
The other day there was a news item that IIT Delhi developed a wheelchair that can climb stairs. Great is it not???
Indeed yes, but the fact is that people expect a little bit more from 'premier' schools like the IITs. Similarly a couple of years ago Rediff proudly carried news of an IIT Chennai invention: A 'car' which looked like probably like the first car ever made. Why are the IITs specializing on reinventing the wheel???
The quality of the technological institutions will be directly proportional to the quality of Infrastructure in the country and its technological advancements. We are still running 19th Century railways and have pathetic roads. So you can gauge why we can NEVER be in the league of the other Asian countries mentioned in the article.
Our 'premier' institutes generate high-ego individuals the majority of whom jump on to IIMs (yea everybody thinks they are managers right from mother's womb) or leave for foreign shores. They don't provide any thought leadership for transforming our technological landscape. Enough of the hype around these institutes.
Don't always compare India and China any more. We are not any where near to China in any thing. If our Universities are not world class, our next generation and the whole country will not be world class now nor in future. That is already written in our karma. That is the sad fact.

Moreover, more than 95% researches are either the copies of old ones or nothing to do with the development of mankind and nation.., are useless.
