It would have been more interesting if some data regarding its construction year and some other features would have been included. More coverage is given to the things other than the fort proper. Deogiri fort was nonconqurable, one can enter from north to south only after conquering the fort. The water harvesting technique is idegenious, the location and construction is unparallel. Is it right to state "Daualatabad fort of Aurangabad"? In fact, Aurangzeb stayed in Aurangabad (Khadaki) more than 2 decades fighting with marathas who died in Aurangabad, far away from Delhi/Agra, and his kabar is in Kulatabad, 7-8 km from Daulatabad. Deogiri fort is about 15 km from Aurangabad, located in a village called Daulatabad, a railway station on Kacheduda-Manamad route. Allaudin Khilaji captered the fort in the 13th century, for someforce personnel from Yadavas betrayed. Ekanath and Janardan Swami stayed in the fort. It is surprising to note that at the top of fort water is available. The fort has a strategic location in the hilly area. The historical monuments that are amazing in terms of say science, technology, eco-system need more meticuous attention to preserve them. Are we failing

Hi BM,
I share your concern. Yes the fort is in sorry condition. Maharashtra ASI need to learn from Karnataka ASI where heritage structures are much better maintained.

Forget maintenance, our politicians are more concentrating on filling their pockets from foreign tourists than maintaining the structures. Today or tomorrow these structure will be diminished and land will sold to builders to constructs buildings.

As are the people so will be the politicians and the govt-- even the common man is a culprit .
very well written. Now is the time to safe as much as possible. Never to think to whom it belongs, now it is Indian history and culture. It feels really disgusting to see how we treat our own history by neglecting it. The most sorry state is the person who built Hyderabad city, his mosolium is used as toilet

Initially, during the times of Yadavas it was hill with tunnels bored into the hill. The walls, fort and other paraphernalia was added during the times of Tughlaq, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb.

What a mindless depiction of fort by Nirdesh. The author has no sense of fort architecture. You idiot, I am from Aurangabad and this fort was built by Yadavas along wit the famous Bhulbhulaiyya. Nirdesh will delete the comment.
