My first pay on first job was 400 in 1978. Good at the time. Then when joined as PO of bank in 1980 it was 1500 . Most of my colleagues dont know what to do with that much :)
The legendary indian actor Dr. Akkineni Nageshwara Rao's first salay was Rs 0.50 in the year 1934. He gave Rs. 0.25 as his contribution for the kerosene to be used in petromas light.
He got this by acting in a play at his native village Ramapuram in the Krishna District of Andhra.

now we know how the british ruled india. for rs 1000 they could probably pay 1000 indian soldiers for a month
my first salary in 1971 was Rs 280 in Audit office at Shimla . my room rent in a hotel on the Mall road was Rs 30 per month with furniture and Rs 60 per month used to be the expanses for break fast , lunch and dinner in several eating joints on the Mall and coffee cup at Indian coffee house was for 25 paise .
In 1956 my salasy asa clerk in Education Department was Rs 60 p.m. some clerks got Rs 54 in pay scale 54-4-82. D.A. of Rs 10 was also added. But dhaba walas provided two times meal @ Rs 18 for full month.
My first salary was Rs 149 and 8 Annas in 1962 when I joined ONGC as a Junior Assistant. I came home and gave the whole salary to my mother who was very proud of me.....
In October, 1993, I recvd my 1st salary it was 850/-. I started as a typist and with that salary, I was able to complete my Diploma in Computers (EMI) and also contributed in the family expenses. But today I am jobless and looking for an opportunity.
