As a student of IIM Calcutta, I can say that there is not much of a point over arguing which institute tops the list. The surveys are very biased sometimes intentionally, sometimes unintentionally... IIMs top the list more because they anyway take the best students in the country. The placements are bound to be of the same level. So the competition forms the basis of rankings rather than the value addition provided by colleges.

It is so obvious that you could not clear the CAT......
This is just a ranking as per an Indian Magazine. So there is nothing great about it. In the ranking conducted by financial times or Forbes none of the Indian B-Schools figure in Top 10.

I agree there is no indian school in the top. But the pity is that Harvard is known to be open to money infouence in admission and other things.Best schools are in elsewhere

Manu s: Shame on you! You would rather give more importance to foreign publications that your own country. What makes you think FT or Forbes is better? Have some faith. It's because of people like you that no one respects Indians.
While there is no doubt that IIMA is one of the most difficult institutes to get in and the quality of students is great, IIMA still is not at par with the World's best B-Schools. It admits a lot of freshers as the admission process is skewed towards CAT score. In foreign B-Schools, GMAT score is just hygiene factor and holistic assessment of candidature is done. Also, the average work experience in such schools is atleast 5 years. The same may be around 2 years for IIMA.
The academic orientation of Indian education system is the other problem. The learning in Foreign B-schools is more towards practical application of concepts rather than theory.
The visionary Arindam CHaudhari Sen has created a truly global B-Scholl with the best of both worlds. And there are exchange trips to Europe which is so rare in India. And high class of students. I think it should figure in the top 50 atleast
The gold standard...the Times(NY)World Univeristy Ranking lists only a single Indian University within the first 400 top varsities...IIM Bombay (301-350). Empty feel-good boasts may leave folks with that tingly feeling, but fact is, higher-ed in this sorry land is not really what it's cracked-up to be!
Indians still want to compare them to the world.. what a joke.. we are not even a third world country.. look at forth world country like Vietnam the streets are not filthy.. we are like 10th world country. And we cannot compare ourselves to the world
